Overview and Demonstration of Passage Meditation
Michael and Vicki Millican, Certified Passage Meditation Trainers
Monday, March 1, 7:00-8:30 p.m., Room 234 or Sanctuary
Michael and Vicki Millican, who are certified as Passage Meditation trainers and have for years been practicing meditation in the midst of their busy lives, will provide information and a demonstration of the Passage Medittion approach on Monday, March 1, 7:00-8:30 at Northaven.
Michael, an attorney, has been active in the Dallas Peace Center and both Michael and Vicki are deeply committed to regular meditation as a means for keeping their lives focused and with an objective of personal transformation. They have adopted the Passage Meditation approach because of its simplicity and practicality, but real power in making a difference in our lives.
The approach, developed by Eknath Easwaran, who died in 1999, is guided by eight “points” that focus our thinking about how to lives our day-to-day lives and is based on the importance of regular meditation. The approach to meditation is compatible with any religious orientation and is also quite simple. Based in the notion that we become what we meditate, “passages” from the great Christians of spiritual wisdom and those from other faith traditions are used as the focus of meditation. A passage is memorized verbatim and during meditation is the sole focus of one’s attention. There is nothing weird or esoteric about this approach to meditation.
